Michael led a scheme to engage people who are were currently serving in prison. He is proactive in the community by supporting homeless and ex-offenders.
As a proud veteran himself Mike takes pride in supporting the armed forces in the community. Mike was previously the Armed Forces Champion (North and Mid Wales) for Remploy.
Throughout Mike’s civilian career he has worked with the homeless community, addressing drugs and alcohol misuse and supporting ex-offenders.
Before returning to her hometown of Wrexham, Andrea had followed a career in Education. Throughout this time she worked with children and adults addressing the barriers they encountered, thereby allowing individuals from deprived social environments to have an equal access to the benefits of education.
Having graduated in North Wales, Andrea rapidly progressed to becoming one of the youngest Headteachers in the UK. When the government started investing in the areas of greatest deprivation, Andrea led the way in the formulating of multi-agency forums.
Since 2014 Andrea has worked in the mental Health sector working with and helping the homeless, teenage mothers, and the unemployed to access employment.
She is a qualified MH Advocate, PAM’s Assessor and a practicing NHS Counsellor. However her passion to equip others with necessary life skills is always at the fore which has led to her writing and delivering courses in Mental Health, Family Support, and Accessing Sustainable Employment.
Andrea joined Opening Barriers in 2019, keen to continue supporting people in overcoming the challenges of today’s society.
John Williams has spent all his working life within the Sales and Marketing environment. His career started as a Marketing Trainee with a multinational Oil Company where he developed skills associated with finance and investment, assessing, and developing investment opportunities. This led to further the company’s market share within designated geographic areas of the UK.
He widened his experience and portfolio by using his skills within other market leading companies culminating in the highly competitive Print Industry.
Although now in semi-retirement the companies he was involved in founding across Manchester, Yorkshire, and North Wales continue to be in existence.
He also developed writing as a hobby and as an author has had two novels published.
